COVID-19R for RESET

There are many out there trying desperately to find the path forward in this COVID-19R (R for Reset). Some are wondering if the fight to this point was even worth it. Some others are pushing against every wall and button they can find to move forward, and for some to no avail . . . For most of us, this is a time of waiting.

There’s a story in ancient texts about a man who fell in love with his one true love. The Father of his love demanded a high price, one that the young man would work for him for 7 years before he could marry his love. So, he did and 7 years came and went. And after the wedding, after all the hard work, he woke to being tricked into marrying his love’s older sister. So, again, he sought the hand of his love and another 7 years he worked and waited for her.

Many might say the first 7 years were a waste and because he was tricked, not legitimate. But the young man learned to love and to be true in those 14 years of waiting. Those 14 years brought him a love through no choice of his own but finished with a devotion and a character refined with humility and honesty.

The COVID-19R provides a unique situation (through no fault of our own) to continue in the waiting, embracing the tears, frustration, and even the fear of what may or may not come. An opportunity to refine who we are as opposed to who we have been or even believe we are . . . An opportunity to reinvent, to see differently, to persevere without the striving while finding hope in the midst of an unflinchingly, unfair situation.

What will you choose today? Will you choose to embrace and be refined with elements of your character that might need refined? Will you choose to take this time and begin again, even though your course appears to be changed in ways you would never imagine or choose?

Remember . . . One day ends, for another to begin.

This, my friend, is not the end, but a new beginning. It may not be easy and it may be downright difficult at times, but you have the choice of how it will shape you and how you will shape it this time.

Be at rest and peace . . . it will be ok! He promises!
