I have the honor of being part of an executive roundtable in Cincinnati (At Work on Purpose). One of the insightful tools our roundtable leadership used was inspired by LionsLead. The tool is a leaders assessment that I’ve found to be really helpful in understanding my own leadership style. The unique part of the assessment is it scores you against numerous other highly successful leaders such as Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, etc. This was exciting because instead of focusing on whether my skills were high or low. I was able to then understand where they were in relation to other proven leaders. For example, sometimes my skills range was better from 4-7 rather than 7-10. 

It’s an intriguing concept and tool that helps me understand where I truly am as a leader. It helps me know where and how to move towards being a stronger leader when needed.  It has also improved my ability in understanding the individuals who are on my team and who needs to be on my team.
