Start With Your Why
When you first started thinking about your future, what was your thought process? People often ask you "What do you want to do? Why are you interested in doing that?" Leadership expert Simon Sinek challenges us to reverse this way of thinking. Instead of starting with "what," start with your "why" and let that lead you.
Sinek illustrates this way of thinking with something he calls "The Golden Circle."
When starting your next project, business venture, advertising campaign, or career path, challenge yourself to start with your "why." In other words, examine what moves and motivates you. To help you with this, you can check out our recent post about finding your Burning Desire! Then think about how you want to incorporate that passion into your work, and eventually what you want to do in order to achieve that "why." This will not only help you in your decision making, but will inspire others to come alongside you! As Sinek says, "Martin Luther King had an 'I have a dream' speech, not an 'I have a plan' speech."
