Children Rescued in Siem Reap

If you've been following our blog thus far, it will come as no shock to you that vulnerable people are the most at risk of being trafficked. In this sense, "vulnerable" can include people in a lower socio-economic group, those who struggle with their mental health, or those who lack social and physical power to stand up for themselves. This last group often includes children, as they aren't as large as adults and aren't typically taken seriously by adults, making them a prime group of people to be exploited by those who wield power over them.

Thanks to Agape International Mission and Siem Reap police officers, nine children have been rescued from a human trafficking situation in Siem Reap, Cambodia. These children had been recruited from impoverished families and forced to beg on the streets for money. Their trafficker would then turn around and take all they'd earned at the end of the day and beat them if they hadn't made enough. Thankfully, these precious children are now safely in an aftercare shelter and have representation for court so that they can prosecute their trafficker!
