Extending Empathy to Join the Fight

These words describe why we at Timbelo are so passionate about ending modern-day slavery.  They might sound cheesy, but it doesn't make them any less true. When we extend true love and empathy to those of us who are suffering, we join them in their pain. The kind of empathy required to help fight human trafficking doesn't stop at feeling sorry for someone. It requires something much more of oneself, and that can be scary.

I can never pretend to know exactly what a human trafficking survivor has gone through. But I can let them know that they are not worth any less because of it and that they are loved just as they are. Even more, I can fight so that someday nobody will ever have to experience human trafficking ever again. I know that this is a heavy topic and it's so easy to burn out when you're looking at the larger problem. That's why it is so incredibly important to remember why we fight human trafficking in the first place; to free our brothers and sisters in bondage. Even though the task is daunting, their freedom is worth it.
