Practical Tips for the Individual Advocate

With a problem as pervasive as human trafficking, it is easy to doubt the impact a single person can have. But when one person decides to become an advocate, they share what they've learned and in turn creates more advocates who also help with the work!

But where do we start? What can an individual person do to be a great advocate for the anti-human trafficking movement? We'll be starting a series on this blog answering just that!

Today's Individual Advocacy Tip is very simple: Learn!

I know that when I started my journey of advocacy, I thought I had a pretty good understanding of this issue. Boy was I wrong! Take some time to read articles or books about human trafficking, check out trusted sources like the Polaris Project or the End Slavery Cincinnati Coalition, attend webinars, etc. Do whatever you  can to get a full picture of how human trafficking works. Then, go out and share that information!

It may seem simple, but the first step to fixing a problem is understanding it. So dig in and learn as much as you can!
