Importance of Connection

Nobody likes to be alone. It's true that some of us are more or less extroverted than others, but even the most introverted person needs someone who will be there for them. This is because humans are hard-wired for connection! We were all made to love and be loved, and when we're missing that kind of connection, it can have serious effects on our physical and mental health. For example, people who experience higher levels of social isolation are also at higher risk of suffering from issues like obesity, heart disease, and high blood pressure. If you experience higher levels of social connection, however, you can experience more self-love, a 50% increased chance of longevity, higher levels of empathy, and even a boosted immune system! Connection does require a certain level of vulnerability, so it can be pretty scary at first, But clearly, the benefits far outweigh the risks. Now more than ever, people are experiencing intense levels of loneliness. So go ahead, send your friend that random text to show that you're thinking about them! Give your mom a call. Send your brother that funny video that made you think of him. Let your people know that you are there, and you care.
