This month's featured episode of the Ending Human Trafficking podcast is all about Ben Skinner and how he works to end labor trafficking! Skinner is the Founder and Principal of Transparentem, a non-profit agency whose goal is to advance the well-being of workers and communities involved with human trafficking. They do that by exposing hard truths, presenting those truths to people in power, and asking those people to do something about it. This work is fascinating for us here at Timbelo because we want to do the same thing! Transparentem achieves this goal through discreet investigative endeavors. They gather information about suppliers who are using questionable business practices and present that information to brands or buyers of that supplier. As they share the data, they provide an opportunity for the businesses to "roll up their sleeves" and get involved in the solution, rather than simply giving them the chance to defend their own practices. To hear more about Transparentem, listen to the full-length podcast here.
